The Costumes

To make her dream come true, she moves to London and becomes the apprentice of renowned designer Baroness von Hellman. One of the most iconic elements of Cruella is the movie’s costumes. The film’s costume designer, Jenny Beavan, was tasked with creating looks that would reflect both Estella’s over-the-top personality and the excesses of the fashion industry in the 1970s. The Message

Disney’s Cruella is a film with a message, set in the 1970s London fashion scene. It tells the story of Estella, an aspiring fashion designer who will stop at nothing to make her dreams come true. Despite her talent, Estella is met with roadblocks at every turn because she doesn’t conform to the conventional standards of beauty. She is told that her designs are “too different” and that she will never make it in the industry unless she changes who she is.

Estella’s tenacity and refusal to give up on her dreams eventually pay off, but not without cost. In order to achieve success, Estella makes a deal with the devil – literarily. She sells her soul to a man known as “The Baroness” in exchange for a chance to create her own line of clothing. The Baroness is a cold-hearted businesswoman who has no problem exploiting Estella’s talent for her own gain.

Throughout the film, Estella must grapple with the question of whether or not her success is worth the price she has paid for it. In the end, she comes to realize that true happiness cannot be found in material things or external validation – it can only be found within oneself.
